Since the Gallipoli centenary in 2015, 600 seedlings have been planted in primary schools. Acorns were sent home to Australia from the front, and the Gallipoli Oaks are descended from those original trees. The 2018 Gallipoli Oaks coincide with the centenary of the end of the First World War, and the following Catholic primary schools will be planting their seedlings this year.

For more information about the Gallipoli Oaks, teaching resources and history of the project, visit the Gallipoli Oaks website. A short film about the 2017 planting of a Gallipoli Oak at Holy Name School, Reservoir, is available on the Catholic Education Melbourne website.
