Since 1995 Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) has provided student support services aimed at enhancing the capacity of Catholic primary and secondary schools to assist students with diverse learning needs.

Student Learning staff based at each regional office are as follows:

  • Psychologists
  • Speech Pathologists
  • Learning Consultants – ASD/Behaviour
  • Learning Consultants – Chronic Health / Physical
  • Learning Consultants – Diversity
  • Learning Consultants – Hearing
  • Learning Consultants – New Arrivals and Refugees
  • Learning Consultants – Vision.

Regional staff work as members of a multi-disciplinary team.

Regional services are accessed by schools through an established referral process. Parents need to approve the direct involvement of Learning Diversity staff with their child. The referral process is common across all regional offices and utilises the expertise of staff in a multi-disciplinary, integrated model of service delivery. The service effectively uses the skills of all regional staff and aims to provide fair, just and equitable services to all students in Catholic schools.
