In 2018 Catholic Education Week was celebrated from Sunday 11 March to Sunday 18 March.

The theme for Catholic Education Week for 2018 was Open New Horizons for Spreading Joy, the theme of the Australian Church’s 2018 Year of Youth.

Catholic Education Week is an opportunity for all Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne to celebrate their Catholic identity, the pivotal role they play within their local community and the strength of the sector. In the Year of Youth it is also an opportunity to celebrate the young people we serve and listen to their voice.

Events during the week included:

  • Mass for Schools in St Patrick's Cathedral held on Friday 16 March at 10 am
  • Following the Mass, a Concert was held in the Treasury Gardens for primary students on Friday 16 March
  • Young Speakers Colloquium for senior secondary students was held at the Catholic Leadership Centre also on Friday 16 March
  • Visual Arts Exhibition at the Catholic Leadership Centre, was open from Tuesday 13 March to Saturday 17 March (presentations were on Sunday 18 March).

Catholic Education Week is also marked at a local school level with a wide range of events in individual schools that enables students, staff, friends and family to come together to celebrate the spirit of their school community.
