History:

St Timothy’s School opened in 1968 under the direction of its first Principal Mrs Lorna Khoene and Fr. Tom Brophy was appointed as the first Parish Priest. The Sisters of the Holy Infant Jesus administered the school for many years.

Description:

St Timothy’s Primary School is situated near the junction of Springvale and Canterbury Roads, Vermont, and forms part of the Catholic Education Melbourne, East Central Zone. During 1967 a portable building was moved to the Stevens Road site from Mitcham parish of which it was a part. This was used as a school and as the first church.

Features:

In 2010, as part of the government’s BER (Building Education Revolution) project, the original portable building was moved to the back of the library and it was replaced by a modern Performing Arts Centre (PAC). The school was also modernised by an addition of a large contemporary learning space, new library facilities, school kitchen and new administration offices.

A total of 21 staff comprises teachers including drama, music, art, Italian and Physical Education specialist. The school offers a broad curriculum that caters for the diverse needs. We provide a wide range of extra curriculum activities.

The school gardens and playgrounds are well maintained. During 2016 two new Adventure playground and Fitness circuit as well as playground markings for active play were added to playgrounds.
