History:

Lumen Christi (Light of Christ) was named by the school community in August 2000 after opening as Point Cook Catholic Primary School on Thursday, 27 January, 2000. The school name and motto ‘Let Your Light Shine’ encourages all members of the school community to give their best at all times. The school is situated on 3 hectares opposite the Sanctuary Lakes Golf Course in Point Cook Road. Lumen Christi is the third school to open in the parish of Laverton and was built to cope with the increasing demand for Catholic education in the Seabrook/Point Cook area of the parish.

Description:

Staff, parents and children are developing a strong faith and social community in association with the learning community of Lumen Christi. Within our very short time of operation, the parents and friends of Lumen Christi have worked hard to ensure that the grounds reflect a welcoming environment and their major goal since opening has been to provide suitable playground and outdoor equipment for all students. In 2002, 235 students allocated over nine classrooms are supported by a total staff of eighteen full-time and part-time staff. This year sees our second stage of building underway and by the end of 2002 we will have an additional two teaching spaces, the first stage of our information centre and a multi-purpose hall.
