History:

Marian College is a girls’ school of approximately 800 students founded in 1957 by the Brigidine Sisters. Our goal is to provide education that will empower students to be critical thinkers, to have a real sense of self worth, to be adaptive and innovative. We provide opportunities for girls to develop and exercise their commitment to social justice. Growth in the capacity to build life-giving relationships with others is encouraged. We strive to be aware of the needs of people and to respond compassionately. We welcome all to ‘come and see’ and experience living within a Catholic tradition. We are a learning community that imagines and creates new futures. We seek ‘to know, to do, to live, to be’.

Description:

Recent changes in curriculum at Years 9 and 10 (with an extensive elective program) give students more choices than ever before in selecting units of work that complement their interests. As well as VCE, Marian College also offers VET and VCAL programs. Detailed information about Teaching and Learning at Marian can be found on our website.

Features:

Students are able to participate in a number of activities within the College (LOTE Club, Science Club, musical production, etc) as well as represent their school in sports carnivals, music performances, community activities and competitions. In recent years the College has embarked on a number of major building projects. These include a Resource centre, Mathematics Task centre, auditorium, gymnasium (a facility shared with St Paul’s Primary School) and ‘Ngali’, our recently opened building for the senior years of education.
