Term 4Welcome back to the final school term for 2019. Year 12 VCE, VET and VCAL students are preparing for their exams and final assessments in their last weeks at school.

Preschool children and Year 6 students are preparing for transition to primary and secondary schools, with orientation days and transition programs in full swing.

There are some significant events for schools to look out for this term, including:

  • Walk to School month (from 7 October) encourages all young people to find more time in their lives to be active.
  • The STEM MAD Showcase (10 October), where students from Catholic schools will be demonstrating innovation in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
  • Mission Month (October) and Anti-Poverty Week (13–19 October) focus on the basic needs of communities in Australia and around the world.
  • Children’s Week (19–27 October) celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood. It is also a time for children to demonstrate their talents, skills and achievements.
  • The Daniel Morcombe Foundation’s Day for Daniel (25 October) raises awareness of child safety.
  • World Teachers Day (25 October) recognises the significant contribution of our teachers.
  • The 2019 Australian Catholic Youth Festival (8–10 December) will be held in Perth for young Catholics from around Australia. The festival provides young people with opportunities to deepen their relationship with Jesus, be empowered to be disciples in the world today, and encounter and celebrate the vitality of the Church in Australia.
