Our Lady of Sion College in Box Hill, is no stranger to film cameras. In 2015, after being spotted belly-dancing at a New Year’s Eve Party, she was asked to audition and was chosen for the Australian government campaign Girls Make Your Move, encouraging girls of all shapes, sizes and abilities to participate in sport.

More recently, Belonging Matters (in partnership with Manningham Council, where Amelia lives) called for a person with a disability to share a story of being included in a mainstream community. Amelia’s mother Jackie was encouraged to nominate Amelia, who was born with Down Syndrome, and her inclusion in Our Lady of Sion’s community as an example, and Amelia was chosen as the subject of the video, titled Amelia Makes Her Move, see below.

Amelia was invited to the launch of the video at a Belonging Matters conference, where she got to introduce the video.

Amelia said that she liked the activities they did for the film and that it was a good experience. ‘I want to be an actress one day,’ she said.
