When it comes to professional learning in technology, St Thomas More’s School, Hadfield, makes the most of the experts in the field; the students.

Last week’s Tech in Action was a professional learning day for teachers and students by teachers and students. With guests from local schools and businesses, the day provided a wealth of information and innovation in the ever-changing world of technology. With keynote presentations from Chris Harte and Kelly Moore and workshop presentations from teachers and students, the focus of the day was learning from each other to make the most of the expertise available. Teachers and students also had the opportunity to share their thoughts and creations with representatives from Google.

‘As teachers, we don’t know everything and being open about that has allowed us to learn from students,’ said Tech in Action organiser Sonia Mazzei. ‘The students just go with it; they’re not scared. We show them new things, give them time to play, and they end up teaching us.’
