The community at Our Lady of the Way Catholic Primary School, Wallan East, gathered for the official opening and blessing of the school’s new senior building.

‘We’ve been here for five years and grown by over 100 students every year, and we were running out of space’, said Principal Terry Cooney. ‘Originally planned for eight classes, the building was expanded to 12 classrooms. There has been significant growth in enrolments and that is why we’ve needed these extra classrooms.’

The new building was blessed by Parish Priest Fr Prakash Cutinha and officially opened by Lauren Kathage MP, Member for Yan Yean. ‘I’m so proud to have your school as part of my electorate and you should all be proud of your new learning area’, said Lauren. ‘These areas are helping to inspire students, fostering their curiosity, creativity and love of learning.’

‘A lot has been accomplished here in five years, with the next stage being our multipurpose hall, which is well and truly in the process of planning’, said Terry.

The senior building project was principally funded by the Victorian Government and partly funded by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS).
