15 November 2023

Congratulations and thank you to Birute Liebich who is retiring this year after 48 years of dedicated service to Catholic education and the Geelong community.

Birute began her career at Holy Family School, Bell Park, in 1975, followed by service at St Robert’s School, Newtown, and St Therese School, Torquay.

But it’s St Patrick’s School, Geelong West, where she has been an institution and inspiration for generations of students and families across an amazing 43 years.

During her time at St Patrick’s School, Birute has worked under six principals and taught across every year level as a classroom teacher and in a variety of specialist roles, including her current position as Visual Arts teacher.

Principal Luke Sheehan said not only has Birute dedicated over four decades of her teaching career to St Patrick’s, but her three sons attended the school as well.

‘Birute has made an indelible impact on countless students and colleagues throughout her time in education. Her tireless commitment to fostering community and connection has been especially valued here at St Patrick’s’, he said.

‘Birute’s involvement in and leadership of school events such as cabarets, dances and extravaganzas have been nothing short of extraordinary. Her fun-loving nature, unwavering dedication to her students, passion for the Arts that she brought to our community every day and loyalty to our school will be sorely missed.’

‘We sincerely thank Birute for her outstanding commitment to Catholic education and we offer her the very best wishes for this next chapter of life.’
