Shane Nicole Villegas, a Year 12 student at Thomas Carr College, Tarneit.9 September 2021

Shane Nicole Villegas, a Year 12 student at Thomas Carr College, Tarneit, has received a Future Leaders Future Justice Award 2021.

Shane Nicole is one of only seven students nationally to receive this award, which recognises Year 12 students who have shown leadership and initiative on intergenerational equity. She has worked extensively to support those less fortunate in the community and helped establish the Vinnies Conference at Thomas Carr College where she is co-president. Shane Nicole has raised both funds and awareness for the St Vincent de Paul Society, the Missionary Society of St Paul and the Aboriginal Catholic Ministry. Despite the rigours of studying her final year of VCE, she volunteers at a Vinnies op shop and is the liturgy captain at Thomas Carr College.

Other Catholic school students recognised in this year’s Future Leaders Awards are two students from St Columba’s College, Essendon. Annalise Donnelly received a Future Leaders Future Justice Award and Lara Yildiz was recognised in the Future Leaders Photography Prize.
