14 October 2021

Students across Melbourne will be using science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to make a difference as part of STEM MAD 2021 from 10.00 am today.

STEM MAD is designed to acknowledge and promote STEM learning initiatives that address real-world problems and demonstrate how students in Catholic schools take action that matters. Student teams are invited to design a product, service or innovation to ‘Make A Difference’ (MAD) to others or the environment.

In recent years, teams of primary and secondary school students have designed mobile applications to promote mental health, solutions for people experiencing homelessness, toys for animals in captivity and so much more. This year’s event will take place remotely with students sharing their projects as well as participating in STEM activities across the day.

A national STEM MAD event with students from around Australia will take place digitally in November.
