Emma Gerber from Mater Christi College, Belgrave, has a bright future ahead of her after receiving a prestigious scholarship from The University of Melbourne.

The Year 12 student and college captain was one of only 20 students to be awarded the Hansen Scholarship for her undergraduate studies beginning in 2022. The Hansen Scholarship program offers free accommodation, living allowances, funds for an international exchange, internship or voluntary opportunity, plus a tailored development program including academic orientation, study skills, mentoring and cultural activities.

Emma is a hardworking student who approaches her studies with motivation and determination, and is always looking for ways to learn outside her comfort zone. ‘This scholarship is a wonderful acknowledgment for the hard work throughout my years of schooling’, said Emma. ‘It’s great to be recognised in this way, but it’s also a tribute to the teachers as well as my family and friends who have supported me along the way.’
