The winners of the ResourceSmart Schools Awards for 2020 have been announced.

St Columba’s School, Elwood, and Our Lady Star of the Sea School, Ocean Grove, were both double-winners, with MacKillop Catholic Regional College, Werribee, taking out the award for curriculum leadership.

The awards were announced last Friday, World Environment Day, in a virtual ceremony hosted by broadcaster Sammy J. The theme for 2020 ‘people and the planet’ celebrates how we use our humanity – our knowledge, care and passion – to look after the environment, and how looking after the planet contributes to our wellbeing in return. The finalists showcase incredible efforts of principals, teachers, students, parents and volunteers, and spotlight the impactful and inspiring work of Victorian schools to care for the environment.

The 2020 ResourceSmart Schools Awards booklet contains information about each category, along with profiles of finalist and winning submissions. Congratulations to the Catholic schools who were recognised:

  • Teacher of the Year (Primary): Stephanie Young, St Columba’s School, Elwood
  • School Volunteer of the Year: St Columba’s Green Team, St Columba’s School, Elwood
  • Community Leadership School of the Year (Primary): Our Lady Star of the Sea School, Ocean Grove
  • Curriculum Leadership School of the Year (Primary): Our Lady Star of the Sea School, Ocean Grove
  • Curriculum Leadership School of the Year (Secondary): MacKillop Catholic Regional College, Werribee
