History:

St Catherine's School opened in 1957 and was administered by the Sisters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. In 1984 the first lay principal was appointed, which is a continued practice to the present day. In 2017, the school celebrated 60 years of providing Catholic Education in Moorabbin.

St Catherine's is one of three primary schools in the Parish of Holy Trinity. In 2015, the three school in the Parish became the Federated School of Holy Trinity, forming an innovative model of leadership with four Principals across the three schools.

The school buildings have undergone major refurbishment to provide adequate facilities conducive to contemporary learning environments. Our outdoor play spaces have recently been enhanced to emphasise our natural environments.

Our Catholic faith and traditions remain alive and visible in our learning community and in our interactions with others.

Description:

The school is situated on spacious grounds in a quiet street off South Road. You will find major shopping centres, secondary schools, a TAFE college, a swimming complex, parks and sports grounds close by. There are many local sporting groups, clubs and hobby groups in the community to cater for the interests of the children.

The school provides small class groups, dedicated teaching and administrative staff and a friendly, inclusive school community. Our spacious school grounds include sporting facilities, a quiet courtyard area, vegetable gardens, large grass oval and a shaded adventure playground catering for children in all year levels. Our impressive Learning Hub area supports collaborative learning, library facilities and digital technologies.

Our curriculum programs include Visual and Performing Arts, Physical Education and Zone/District sporting opportunities, a language program and an emphasis on developing fundamental English and Mathematics skills. We embed our school values: respectful relationships, responsible behaviour and restorative practices in all that we do and teach.

As of 2018, St Catherine's has become the centre of the Federated School's Arrowsmith Program. A brand new and refurbished learning space has been created with the purpose of supporting the program. Additionally the school is hosting weekly homework clubs to assist with Arrowsmith Students and their additional work.
