History:

Genazzano FCJ College Ltd is an independent Catholic girls school owned by the Sisters, Faithful Companions of Jesus, and conducted in collaboration with their lay colleagues. The FCJ Society, which is engaged in the apostolate of education in most continents, came to Victoria in 1882 and established Genazzano in 1889 as a boarding school. Later, day pupils were admitted. Today it is a Preparatory to Year 12 school with an enrolment of approximately 1000 students. The College is governed by a Council appointed by the FCJ Education Board. It has a lay principal who, with the staff, is committed to carrying forward the vision of the College.


Description:

Genazzano FCJ College Ltd is an all-girls school from Preparatory to Year 12 with boarders accepted from Years 7 to 12. There are 40 places available in the Boarding House which is situated off campus in Camberwell. The College employs a Director of Boarding and several Boarding House staff to oversee the operations and care of the Boarding House. The philosophy of the College is built on the Christian belief in the dignity and worth of each individual.

Genazzano is a Catholic learning community emphasising leadership for young women and challenging them to live and act with discernment through an excellent academic program, a quality religious education, an extensive co-curriculum and active engagement with issues of social justice.

Genazzano FCJ College Ltd offers a strong academic program with a wide range of subjects. The College has an outstanding co-curricular program offering over 130 activities for students: ranging from sport, music, history, art, drama, performance, social justice, etc. A range of exchange or international programs are offered to countries such as China, France, Italy, England, etc. The College offers an opportunity for students to explore central Australia and our Indigenous culture within our Year 9 program. We also offer a small exchange program to the Kimberleys. Religious Education is integral to the total education of our students and forms a central part of all activities, with opportunities for the expression of faith through weekly Eucharist, other Liturgies to celebrate special occasions and social justice and outreach programs.
