History:

Catholic Regional College Sydenham, Sydenham, is a faith community missioned by the Church to serve the people of the outer-western suburbs. It consists of students, parents, teachers, priests and parishioners from a wide range of backgrounds but united in one faith in Jesus Christ.

The College opened in 1982 to provide a separate, coeducational, senior campus for students from the Years 7–10 colleges at Melton, North Keilor and St Albans. The College continues to expand and develop new resources and learning opportunities for over 700 students in an ever-increasing comprehensive curriculum.

Description:

The College’s diverse, student-centred curriculum seeks to challenge and provide opportunities for intellectual, personal and spiritual growth and development. The College offers 44 units of study, enabling students to tailor a VCE package which best suits their needs, abilities and interests. An exciting range of VET (Vocational Education and Training) courses is available in Electronics, Office Administration, Hospitality and Sport and Recreation areas. These courses operate in conjunction with the VCE, providing multiple pathways for students.

The College facilities are well maintained and continually adapting to the changing needs of our students and curriculum

* The Computer Centre: over 80 Apple computers and 3 laser printers
* The Technology Block: a fully equipped area for textiles and food

Features:

The College provides a Religious Education program that offers a wide range of units, incorporating studies in: Jesus and the Church, Faith, Ethics, Scripture, Justice, International Issues and Personal Development.

The Year 12 Retreat and Year 11 Seminars are integral components of the Religious Education program. Liturgy is central to the life of the College: the Eucharist is celebrated each week, as well as on special occasions. As a result of our belief that faith ought to lead to action, students and staff are encouraged to support and participate in special projects, including our twinning program with a school in East Timor and local social justice issues.

Catholic Regional College Sydenham is a pastorally caring community which values student's uniqueness and seeks to create an atmosphere of mutual respect, acceptance and forgiveness.
