History:

When Christ the King School (CTK) was originally built in Newcomb the building consisted of two classrooms, a chapel and staff facilities. In 1968, three more classrooms, a canteen and an office were added and later in the year two more classrooms were needed. As the rapid growth in the area stabilised, a relocatable classroom was added to meet immediate needs.

Building again commenced at Christ the King in 2001. A new administration building, complete with staffroom, teachers work-room and storage areas, were completed during that year.

By 2012 CTK had developed into a school with modern amenities to accommodate a current and relevant curriculum for the education of our children. Included in our amenities are two open plan-learning environments and a P/1/2 block to accommodate personalised learning for all our students.

As part of the Federal Government’s BER program, a modern school hall was built, and part of the existing church hall was converted into a sound-proofed music room. The open grounds include a well-equipped playground and big oval, and provide the students with ample opportunity to be active.

Description:

Christ the King School is a Prep–Year 6 multi-age primary school. Our school is a very exciting and enthusiastic learning centre where children, teachers and parents work together to create the best possible education for all students.

We encourage our students to take responsibility and become independent learners through a personalised learning approach. Our aim is to develop our students to become clear thinkers who are able to question, critically evaluate and become responsible members of society.

Features:

We are a welcoming, caring community, committed to the development of every child, at their own level and pace. Families from all cultures are welcome at Christ the King. We have a number of integration children participating fully in the life of our school.

There are many programs offered by the school to give children support and the opportunity to share in the leadership, decision-making and problem-solving activities of the school. Children can be elected to the Student Council, participate in programs such as Seasons, Turning the Tide (Drug Education), Self Esteem and Healthy Relationships and Reading Recovery. We also introduced the ERIK program to support reading. CTK has been part of the National Partnership (Mathematics) program which has added value to the teaching of this subject. CTK's specialist programs are:
* music/choir
* Italian (LOTE)
* Physical Education.

We want all families to feel welcome at Christ the King and invite them to come to school often, visit classrooms, talk to teachers, share in the joys of excursions, reading, language activities, physical and special education classes, art, craft, cooking and music. We believe that parents and teachers have much to share when it comes to the education of their children.
