Sapphire Kodhr is making a habit out of thinking of others.

The grade 6 student from St Catherine’s School, Moorabbin, received media attention earlier this year for her ‘Brighter Days, Warmer Nights’ initiative, creating 85 backpacks filled with blankets, toiletries and other items to support homeless and vulnerable young people.

Sapphire has now been named an Indigenous Literacy Student Ambassador; one of only ten in Australia. With the Book Swap, a raffle and a silent auction, Sapphire was able to raise almost $1500 to support indigenous literacy projects. Sapphire approached the AFL for support, and signed jumpers from the 2018 Hawthorn and Collingwood teams added to the impressive total.

As Sapphire’s time at St Catherine’s School comes to an end, she’d like to be remembered as a person who inspired other students to think about the needs of others instead of themselves.
