Images for the commencement of term 4Welcome back to the final school term for 2018. Year 12 VCE, VET and VCAL students are preparing for their exams and final assessments in their last weeks at school.

Pre-school children and Grade 6 students are also preparing for transition to primary and secondary schools with orientation days and transition programs in full swing.

There are some significant events for schools to look out for this term including:

Mission Month (October) and Anti Poverty Week (14–20 October) to focus on the basic needs of communities in Australia and around the world.

Walk to School month (October) encourages all young people to find more time in their lives to be active.

Children’s Week (19–28 October) celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood. It is also a time for children to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities.

The Daniel Morcombe Foundations’ Day for Daniel (26 October) raises awareness of child safety, while World Teachers Day (26 October) is a day for the awareness, understanding and appreciation of the contribution of teachers.

November sees the end of the Year of Youth, however, not the end of celebrating youth in the Church. World Youth Day will be held in Panama in January 2019 offering young people opportunities to grow closer to Christ, by means of prayer and the sacraments, with their contemporaries.
