9 October 2017

Australian Catholic Youth Festival participantsWelcome back to the last term for 2017. Our Year 12 VCE, VET and VCAL students are in their last few weeks of secondary schooling and we wish them all the best as they prepare for their exams and final assessments.

Pre-school children and Grade 6 students are also preparing for transition to primary and secondary schools with all schools working hard to make the big move as easy as possible.

There are some significant events for schools to look out for this term including:

  • Mission Month (October) and Anti Poverty Week (15–21 October) are times for schools to focus on the basic needs of communities in Australia and around the world.
  • October is also Walk to School month, encouraging all young people to find more time in their lives to be active.
  • Nine Catholic schools are in the running for ResourceSmart environmental awards when the winners are announced on 16 October.
  • The Daniel Morcombe Foundations’ Day for Daniel (27 October) raises awareness of child safety.
  • The Australian Catholic Youth Festival (7–9 December) will take place in Sydney and will launch the Year of Youth to mark the 10th anniversary of World Youth Day 2008.

It’s also a busy time for the four new Catholic schools preparing to open next year in Torquay North, Bannockburn, Wallan and Craigieburn.
