Loyola College, Watsonia, students Alexia Tomasello and Roxanne Garzia placed third in the Secondary School category in this year’s Sunshine Short Film Festival for their ‘claymation’ Fertilizer.

In working on their film, the students found that ‘we really enjoyed working together and seeing our hard work pay off and come to life. Starting with an idea and seeing it come to life on the big screen was truly rewarding.’ They also discovered ‘the creativity with claymation or any animation form is almost limitless’.

Alexia and Roxanne’s film, along with the other finalists, were screened at Village Cinemas in Sunshine last month. ‘We were excited about seeing other film makers' work and really looked forward to seeing our work on the big screen’.

Another Loyola College student, Kristian Ambrose, has also been selected as a finalist in the Best Student Game category of the Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) Awards for The Attack of the Pizza Monster.

The game is described as ‘an interactive “Choose Your Own Adventure”– style video’, see below.

The 2017 SAE ATOM Awards Student Awards Presentation will be held Wednesday 25 October.
