On 11 October St Brigid’s School, Mordialloc, hosted the Hon. Deputy Premier of Victoria, Mr James Merlino and State Member for Mordialloc, Mr Tim Richardson.

Following a short meeting and school tour, it was announced at an assembly this morning that the State Government has committed $1.75 million for capital works at St Brigid’s to commence next year with a local contribution of $1 million. This project will see a complete transformation of the learning facilities at St Brigid’s next year – the largest change to the school in 50 years.

The proposed changes are in relation to classroom renovation and additions, upgrade of existing rooms, new administration and staff working facilities and additional parking on site. The school will go from 11 learning spaces to 14, giving the chance for some growth but more importantly improved class sizes.

Local MP Tim Richardson said, ‘St Brigid’s School is a great school full of hardworking staff and talented students and I’m sure they will thrive in these new facilities’.

The masterplan for these works was developed through the feedback from the School Review in 2014 and took on board feedback from parents, staff and students.

School principal, Michael Russo, said it was ‘a landmark day in the history of St Brigid’s – our students are very fortunate and will benefit greatly from this building project. I will provide opportunities for families to view the master plan and ask any questions in relation to these plans.’
