Images of students with their artwork.Catholic Education Week’s Visual Arts Exhibition was once again an outstanding display of the creativity and talent of the students in our schools.

Over 1000 visitors enjoyed more than 365 works on display at the Catholic Leadership Centre, each one a credit not only to the young artist but to their teachers and schools alike. While all the contributors are to be congratulated for being selected for the exhibition, a special congratulations goes to those students whose excellence was recognised by the judges:

  • Archbishop’s Award for Religious Art (Primary) – Mary in Heaven – Assumption of Mary – Sorili Bilu, Foundation, Christ the King Primary School, Braybrook.
  • Archbishop’s Award for Religious Art (Secondary) – Modern Mary – Hayley Leach, Year 10, Mater Christi College, Belgrave.
  • Eileen Canty Award (Primary) – Sunset Rooster – Grace O’Connor, Year 4, St Joan of Arc School, Brighton.
  • Julia Flynn Memorial Award (Secondary) – Tree – Uyen Nguyen, Year 11, Catholic Regional College Sydenham, Sydenham.
  • Australian Catholic University Social Justice Award (Primary) – And God Created Earth – Celeste Yamouni, Year 1, St Bridget’s School, Greythorn.
  • Australian Catholic University Award for Social Justice (Secondary) – Underrepresented – Solida Sieng, Year 12, Sacred Heart Girls’ College, Hughesdale.
  • Catholic Education Week Year 12 Award – Ocean Oasis – Pat McCormick, Year 12, Marcellin College, Bulleen.
  • Executive Director’s Acquisition Award – Sr Madeleine RNDM – Madeleine Sloan, Year 12, Sacred Heart Girls’ College, Hughesdale.
  • Film Excellence Award (Primary) – Unconscious and Confused – Chloe Britten, Isabelle Curnasak, Mali Davies, Alexia Forbes, Ruby Higgins, Tess Mason, Emma Suda, Evie Tormey, Pepper Williams, Year 4, St Finbar’s School, Brighton East.
  • Film Excellence Award (Secondary) – The Creativity Cycle – Andrew Fu, Year 12, Marymede Catholic College, South Morang.
  • Serra Club Portraiture Award (Primary) – Child of God – Bethany D’Souza, Year 6, Resurrection House, Essendon.
  • Serra Club Portraiture Award (Secondary) – Distant Voices, Touching Lives – Leo Li, Year 12, St Joseph’s College, Ferntree Gully.
  • People’s Choice Award (Primary) – Neon Tigers – Matisse Moore, Foundation, Our Holy Redeemer School, Surrey Hills.
  • People’s Choice Award (Secondary) – Modern Gods – Tyron Tran, Year 11, Marcellin College, Bulleen.
  • Visual Arts Exhibition Catalogue Cover Award – Momentary – Olivia Jones, Year 11, Our Lady of Mercy College, Heidelberg.
  • Visual Arts Exhibition Committee Award (Primary) – Cropped Self-portrait after Sandra Silberzweig, 2018 – Perri Lawson, Year 6, Sacré Cœur Joigny (Junior), Glen Iris.
