Lara Vulic of St John’s Regional College, Dandenong, was one of three students to have been selected as co-curators for Emergent 2018, an exhibition held at Bunjil Place showcasing outstanding works by young artists from the City of Casey.

Lara was given the opportunity to work under the guidance of the Bunjil Place Curator and assist the judging panel in selecting the 32 works that made up the exhibition, as well as designing the exhibition’s space.

‘I was honestly amazed by how outstanding each student’s works were. I would definitely recommend applying whether for the co-curator position or submitting works into the exhibition. This was a valuable experience that provided an insight into art curation and one that I am very grateful for’, said the Year 12 student.

On the opening night, Lara acted as an MC for the event where she spoke to over 100 guests, welcoming and introducing them to the evening’s special guest speaker, Amanda Stapledon, Mayor of Casey.
