Year 11 Sacred Heart College, Geelong, student, Larissa Zanardo, is one of twenty-two students who will head to Darwin and Singapore in April, joined by three teachers, two veterans and parliamentary tour leader, Mr Frank McGuire MP for the Premier’s Spirit of Anzac Prize tour in 2018.

The students will have the opportunity to learn about Australia’s military history and to travel to historical sites where Australians have served in conflict. The 10-day itinerary will include the Darwin Military Museum, Fort Hill Wharf, Lim Bo Seng Memorial, Changi Chapel and the Kranji War Memorial.

Students won their place on the 2018 tours by submitting entries that considered the impact of war on Australian society. Larissa’s entry to the competition started life as her Personal Project in Year 9. The recipients attended the announcement ceremony at the Park Hyatt, Melbourne, on 5 February 2018.

Now in its 15th year, the Premier’s Spirit of Anzac Prize provides a unique chance for Year 10 and 11 students to reflect upon the spirit of the Australians who have fought for their country and the impact of war on our society.

Entries for the 2018–19 study tour are now open. For more details, visit www.dpc.vic.gov.au/soap.
