Today is International Women’s Day, a day to recognise the achievements of woman throughout the world. Many of our schools will be marking this day in their own way, and over the last 12 months we have published many stories celebrating the women of today and the women of tomorrow in our schools. Here are some of our favourite stories over that time.

Science: girls travelled to the US for space camp while others sent their experiments into orbit as part of the CubeRider project.

Social justice: students from Mater Christi College, Belgrave, grew food to welcome people supported by the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, and students from St Anne’s school, Seaford, put together packs to help vulnerable women.

Leadership: students at Sacred Heart College, Geelong, were named SRC of the year, Siena from St Louis de Montfort’s School, Aspendale, became junior lord major and Nicole from Mercy College, Coburg, was selected for the Multicultural Youth Network to represent her community.

Sport: former students were signed up to play in the AFLW and a teacher at St Bernard’s College, Essendon, became the first woman to umpire in the AFL.
