Junior Chefs cook-off

Last month Sacred Heart College, Kyneton, hosted its Junior Chef Competition at the College’s hospitality centre. The 48 competitors were Grade 4 students from six Catholic primary schools from the Macedon Ranges and Mt Alexander Shire.

The first round of the competition was held over two days with Sacred Heart senior hospitality students mentoring the competitors, providing guidance and assistance with their primary teams and quickly building a rapport with the junior chefs.

Four teams made it through round one to go to the finals the following week. The judging panel, including local chefs Tim Foster and Damian Sandercock, as well as the Sacred Heart College Captains, enjoyed tasting the pasta napoletana dishes prepared by the finalists, as parents and teachers watched on.

The winning team from Holy Cross Primary School, New Gisborne, received a $250 voucher towards their kitchen garden.
