27 June 2018

St Mary’s School, Altona, had a wonderful day celebrating Old Lady Help of Christians Feast Day as well as the school’s 90th Birthday.

The day began with Mass in the church celebrated by Fr George O’Connor, stepping in for our Parish Priest Archpriest Michael Kalka who was away on retreat. Our choir sang beautifully and many staff, students and parents participated in the liturgy. The parishioners, parents and family members then joined us in our classrooms to see the exciting things that were happening and how much schooling has changed since 1928.

The whole school then came together to eat their specially decorated cupcakes. The adults joined staff in the hall for morning tea and ate our delicious birthday cake made for us by Katrina, one of our very talented Prep parents.

After recess all the children were entertained by the talented musicians and singers from Mount Saint Joseph Girls’ College, Altona, and Emmanuel College, Altona North. A lunch provided by our Parents & Friends committee topped off our celebrations.
