Stephen Catsamas from Marcellin College, Bulleen, has been awarded a silver medal at the International Physics Olympiad.

As part of the UNESCO-sanctioned International Science Olympiads, the 2019 International Physics Olympiad took place in Tel Aviv, Israel. While the other four members of the Australian team were presented with bronze medals, Year 12 student Stephen was presented with a silver medal.

It’s not the first success for Stephen. For the second year in a row, he has outperformed thousands of other talented students in selection exams and training to represent Australia. Stephen received a bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Physics Olympiad in Hanoi, Vietnam, before going on to represent Australia at the International Physics Olympiad held in Portugal last July.

The Australian Science Olympiads program is run by non-profit Australian Science Innovations and funded through the Australian Government’s National Innovation and Science Agenda, with support from the Australian National University.
