Term 1 is already looking to be a busy and exciting time with preparations well under way for Catholic Education Week celebrations. Schools can now register their attendance at the Mass for Schools, Concert in the Park, Young Speakers Colloquium (Friday 17 March) and Visual Arts Exhibition (14–17 March). The theme for this year is Moved by the love of Christ.

At this time the first edition for 2017 of Catholic Education Today will be published including a feature on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in our schools and some of their achievements in the field; a story about Project Compassion, Caritas Australia’s annual Lenten fundraising and awareness-raising appeal; and a parent’s reflection on their child’s transition to a new school year.

Work is also well under way on three new Catholic primary schools set to open in 2018 – Our Lady of the Way, Wallan East; Oscar Romero Catholic Primary School, Craigieburn West; and Lisieux Catholic Primary School, Torquay North – in response to the booming demand for Catholic schools.
