The talented and dedicated sportspeople at St Thomas the Apostle School, Blackburn, have had two successes recently.

The school’s girls’ basketball team has taken out the state title in the Hoop Time Championships. The girls moved from district to divisional to regional to state, defeating Camberwell South Primary School, 19 to 13, in last week’s grand final at the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna South. Congratulations to the students as well as their coaches, Physical Education teacher Sean Kavanagh and parent Cameron McLellan.

For Sean Kavanagh, there was a double celebration. He was recently presented with an individual Coach of the Year award for his work with the under 15 Team Vic Team of the Year category for football at School Sport Victoria’s inaugural award ceremony. The awards recognise people who contribute to the promotion of children participating in sport.
