History:

St Kevin’s College is one of many schools throughout the world that has been established by the Christian Brothers. Opened in 1918 as a central matriculation college for boys, St Kevin’s has developed into a Preparatory to Year 12 day school of 1400 students and is now located in Toorak

Description:

As a Catholic school our philosophy recognises the unique worth of each individual to be led to the Christian understanding of self, God and others.
We value learning, family and fullness of life. The lives of our students are enriched by an educational climate that develops strong, moral and disciplined individuals, who give their best and strive for academic excellence.

Features:

Boys at St Kevin’s are challenged to develop their individual sensibilities through artistic, intellectual, cultural and sporting pursuits. Along with a comprehensive curriculum, enrichment classes are offered in philosophy, literature, problem-solving and engineering. Programs with other schools are offered for those requiring an extra challenge.
Each boy has a Tutor and a Year Level Coordinator or House Head. Each family develops a strong sense of community through our approach to pastoral care. Tutors maintain regular contact with parents; communication between school and home is seen as crucial to ensure that a student is able to be his best.
The prevailing ethos and climate of respect makes St Kevin’s a welcoming place for learning and growth. The strong family involvement leads to people forging strong relationships. The special role of senior students as mentors and guides develops a profound sense of confidence in the younger boys. Our separate Year 9 campus, Waterford, allows us to target the specific needs of boys at this crucial stage.
The Religious Education program provides teaching in Christian morality and opportunities for prayer and worship. Chaplains and Counsellors assist with personal growth.
The extensive Outdoor Education Program enables boys to grow in confidence and self-reliance through the theme of Journey. The sports program of the Associated Public Schools enables every boy to represent his school in several sports.
